This policy applies to best-tools.app and its browser-based tools.

2. Website access and Cloudflare Tunnel

The website runs on our own infrastructure and is made publicly available through Cloudflare Tunnel. When you access it, requests pass through the network of Cloudflare, Inc. Technically necessary connection data is processed, including your IP address, requested URL, time of access, browser and device information, and technical status and security information. This processing is needed to deliver the website and protect the service against abuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website.

The Nginx web server on our own infrastructure writes access logs by default. These may contain the time, requested address, HTTP status, browser identifier, referring page, and IP address of the immediate connection partner. Depending on the server configuration, the visitor's IP address may also be recorded. Docker stores these logs on the home server. They are used to diagnose errors and prevent abuse, not to build visitor profiles. Access logs are retained for seven days and then deleted. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.

Additional Cloudflare services such as Web Analytics or Access are not enabled in the current configuration. Cloudflare processes and stores connection data under the settings and retention rules applicable to the tunnel and its security functions. Processing outside the European Economic Area may occur. 3. Files and input in the tools

Files and text you select or enter in the converters and editors are generally processed in your browser on your device. We do not operate a file upload server for this processing or store this content on our web server. Your browser holds the data temporarily in memory while you use the tool; reloading or closing the page ends the current session. Downloaded results are stored on your device and managed by you.

Please note the external resources and functions described in section 4. Processing files in the browser does not mean that ordinary website requests generate no connection data.

4. External resources used by some functions

Some video tools load the FFmpeg.wasm runtime from unpkg.com when needed. The YouTube thumbnail function loads images from img.youtube.com; the video ID you enter becomes part of the image URL. Some demo previews use images from images.unsplash.com. When you use these functions, the respective provider technically receives connection data such as your IP address and browser information. Files you load locally into the tools are not sent to these providers as a result.

These resources support the requested function or its preview. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. The providers' own privacy notices describe their retention periods. If you follow an external link, you leave best-tools.app; the destination site's privacy policy then applies.

5. Google Search Console

We use Google Search Console to manage indexing and understand how the website appears in Google Search. The application code does not include a Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager script for visitors. Search Console receives data from Google Search; it does not upload files used in the browser tools. Google processes data under its own Search and Search Console services. 6. Cookies and browser storage

The website currently sets no first-party analytics or advertising cookies and does not permanently store tool files in the browser. Cloudflare may set cookies necessary for security functions when those functions are triggered. Cloudflare documents these cookies. Where access to information on your device is strictly necessary to provide a service you expressly requested, Section 25(2) of the German TDDDG applies.

7. Contact by email

If you email us, we process your email address and the content you send to answer your inquiry. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR; Article 6(1)(b) may apply to inquiries about a contract. We delete correspondence when it is no longer needed to handle the inquiry, unless statutory retention duties or legitimate reasons require longer storage. Emails are transmitted and stored by the mail providers involved.

8. Your rights

Subject to the GDPR's conditions, you have rights of access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18), data portability (Article 20), and objection to processing based on Article 6(1)(f) (Article 21). You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Article 77), for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg.
